Crystal revolution – A new premium french soda water line from Lorina

Crystal revolution – A new premium french soda water line from Lorina

Being a big soda fan, I am always looking out for new soda flavors to try as well as to experiment my own soda recipes given that I now own (not 1 but 2!) my own soda maker.

The big news this week is the Lorina, a French soda water company, has launched a new premium (read: expensive!) soda water line called ‘crystal revolution’. That is quite a fanciful name but what is so new about this french soda water line?

From the press release, not much difference except that it is now in smaller sizes so that you don’t have to drink it at family sizes if you happen to hate it!

The thing about Lorina is that they have been pushing for less sugar soda drink for some time now. Their marketing says they have less sugar syrup and uses all natural ingredients. The thing is, all these are marketing talk. I worked in marketing myself so I know how ad copy is so important but I also know how misleading they might be.

What I like to see is some published research that Lorina might have done with regards to the health benefits of their all natural soda water drink. Back it your marketing message but some solid research and you will see a greater belief in what you say. More specifically, we want to see Lorina soda’s calories count etc.

Personally, I have not try Lorina yet as I can’t find them in my local stores or in Amazon. From I read, it seems that the carbonation is really strong, although the taste is a bit lighter as you would expect from using less sugar syrup. In terms of favors, their most famous seems to be Lorina lemonade that comes in different colors such as pink lemonade and orange lemonade. One particular review even says that it taste like a lighter version of 7-up, which I happen to hate!

If any readers have try them and wants to review them, please email me. I am paying USD20 for a good review article on Lorina french soda drink.

sodastream revolution touch screen

Sodastream revolution initial review

I am a big fan of making your own soda at home. Hence, I am always following news on what is new in the soda maker market. One of the biggest news for 2012 is the new soda maker model that is coming out from soda stream. If you are not aware of how good a soda stream product is, check out this sodastream soda maker review that I have done.

The new model is called revolution. It is an improvement over their current model.

So far, from what I have read, the improvements seem to be coming from making things easier to use. For example, there is now a ‘snap and lock’ mechanism that lets you easily insert and remove your soda bottle. There is also a touch based mechanism for the soda maker.

However, the feature that I am excited about is the LED display that shows you the carbonation process. There was no such information feedback in the earlier version of sodastream soda makers so I definitely look forward to seeing how this works.

In terms of the taste, there might not be much difference as there is no mention of that in the introductory product video.

When can I buy sodastream revolution

I was looking to get my hands on it earlier but it seems like the sodastream revolution will only be available in the fourth quarter of 2012. Well, maybe I can hint to my wife about getting it as my Christmas present. Hello dear, if you reading this, you know what to do : )

What is the price of sodastream revolution

There is no fixed price yet. It will definitely be under USD200 but there is no confirmation from the company about how much does the soda stream revolution cost? I hope it will be low than USD150 but looking at the press announcements, it should be between USD150 to USD200.  If the soda maker machine is under USD150, I am sure the press announcement will say that it will be available under USD150, rather than the USD200 that was mentioned.

Maybe Amazon will offer some discounts such that the eventual price might be under USD150? Fingers crossed.
